1 Unfold training pad and place on the floor (plastic side down). For best results, place the pad far away from your pet's bed or food bowl.
2 Place your puppy or dog on the training pad several times a day to get him used to the feel and the smell of the pad. If he doesn't relieve himself right away, take him back several times until he successfully relieves himself. On average, a puppy must relieve himself every few hours, based on his age (a 2-month old puppy every 2 hours, a 3-month old puppy every 3 hours, etc.).
3 When your pet relieves himself on the pad successfully, reward him with a treat and lots of positive praise. Treating your dog helps to reinforce desired behavior. If your pet relieves himself somewhere other than the pad, bring him back to the correct spot immediately.
TRAINING TIPS: VERBAL CUES: The moment your dog begins to relieve himself on the pad, be sure to use cues like "go potty". You should use this cue every time that your dog relieves himself on the pad so that he associates the phrase with the action of elimination. Be sure to give your dog plenty of praise when he uses the pad.
HOUSEBREAKING: When your pet begins to relieve himself on the pads consistently, it is time to begin moving the pad closer to the door. Keep moving pads until they are completely outside. At this time, the training process is complete.
