Dogs are a part of the family; wouldn't it be great if you could feed them like family? Actually, you can, when it comes to vegetables.

Feeding vegetables is a great way to keep your dog healthy while also reducing costs and extra trips to the store to buy pet food.

Just like us, dogs require a variety of organic foods and nutrients for a balanced diet. Veggies are rich in fiber, minerals, antioxidants, enzymes and phyto-nutrients not found in meat. It's important to feed your dog different kinds of vegetables, as each type offers its own array of nutrients.

Unfortunately, not all vegetables are safe for your furball, therefore, we will discuss some of the vegetables that are good for dogs.

Best Vegetables For Dogs

Here’s a list of the best vegetables for your furry companions:

Broccoli

Yes, dogs can eat broccoli. Dogs can eat the vegetable both cooked and raw, as long as there are no seasonings or oils added. However, this vegetable should always be given in very small quantities, especially because the florets contain isothiocyanates, which can cause gastric irritation in you fur-ball.

Carrots

Carrots are fun to eat because they are crunchy, sweet, and chewy. Carrots are an excellent low-calorie snack that is high in fiber and is included in many dog foods. We recommend cutting carrots into smaller chunks before giving them to your dog.

Sweet Potatoes

Sweet potato is a safe, healthy, and natural treat for dogs, offering a range of health benefits. Not only are they tasty, but they are packed with nutrients that dogs need to stay fit and healthy.

Cucumber

Cucumbers are perfectly safe for dogs to eat, and offer a low-calorie, crunchy snack that many dogs love. Cucumbers have nutritional benefits and are full of fibre and vitamins A, B, and K.Most of the nutrition and benefits are in the peel. As long as you buy organic, the cucumber peel is perfectly safe for your dog to eat.

Cauliflower

Cauliflower isn't toxic for dogs and is also a low-calorie, vitamin-packed vegetable, it makes a great occasional treat for your pet. They can safely consume it raw, steamed or roasted, and it can even be served together with fresh doggy-safe herbs to help spice things up.

Peas

You can feed your dog fresh, frozen, or thawed peas, but canned peas are a BIG NO-NO. Like many canned vegetables, canned peas typically have a lot of added sodium, which is harmful to dogs (and humans).

Celery

If you're planning on feeding your dog celery, ensure that it's cut into smaller bite-sized pieces. Both raw and cooked celery is safe for your dog. It helps clean their teeth and freshens their breath.

Spinach

Cooked spinach is the best form of spinach for your pup as this makes it easier for their bodies to digest. While there are multiple ways to prepare spinach, steaming is the best method to use. Boiling spinach loses most of its nutrients and raw spinach can cause digestive issues.

The above listed vegetables are the ones that are super safe for your pooch. Try a few as occasional treats for your dog and let us know what your pooch thinks!
